Mbuti Textiles
A selection of 32 Mbuti barkcloth paintings from the Ituri rainforest in north-east Congo.
After having been invited to do an exhibition on ‘boucherouite’ rag rugs from Morocco in late 2010/early 2011 this had been the second time that I had the honour of exhibiting at the Douglas Hyde Gallery, a very well respected institution in the field of contemporary art.
The collection of 32 carefully chosen Mbuti loincloth textiles has been built over a period of more than 6 years + shows a wide variety of rare design types + objects of great artistic expression.
