THE ADAM COLLECTION A selection from the exhibition MOROCCAN CARPETS AND MODERN ART

During the Design Month Graz 2015 we show a fine selection from one of the largest + most prominent private collections of Berber rugs in Europe. Fascinated + surprised by the similarity between the imagery of Moroccan rural rugs + paintings of the modernist period in Europe + the US the Munich architect Juergen Adam has been searching for formal connections between modernist artworks + Berber rugs for more than 40 years. His collection achieved wide public + media attention when it had been exhibited in the exhibition ‘Moroccan Carpets and Modern Art’ at the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich on the occasion of the re-opening after the reconstruction in 2013. prices upon request

DIE SAMMLUNG ADAM Spitzenstücke aus der Ausstellung MAROKKANISCHE TEPPICHE UND DIE KUNST DER MODERNE

Anlässlich des Design Monat Graz zeigen wir eine Auswahl aus einer der größten Privatsammlungen alter marokkanischer Berberteppiche. Von der formalen Verwandtschaft zu malerischen und grafischen Werken des 20. Jahrhunderts aus Europa und den USA überrascht, widmete sich der Münchner Architekt Jürgen Adam ein halbes Leben lang der Suche nach einem Zusammenhang zwischen der minimalistischen und abstrakten Bildwelt der Berber und jener der Moderne. Die Sammlung erlangte im Herbst 2013 durch die Ausstellung ‘Marokkanische Teppiche und die Kunst der Moderne’ im Rahmen der Wiedereröffnung der Münchner Pinakothek der Moderne große öffentliche Aufmerksamkeit.
